Over 50 University of Kent staff made the journey down the hill to Canterbury’s new Riverside Development, to enjoy a night of food, drinks and action-packed pub games, competing in crazy golf, darts, shuffleboard, and axe throwing. Vying for the Pub Games trophy teams had just 30 minutes allotted to each activity.
In the minigolf, scores ranged from 18 to 32, with the various obstacles causing havoc for most players. Innes scored the lowest score of the night, with an impressive 18 points, although we may need to review the CCTV to ensure his score was legitimate!
In the darts, there were some remarkable and less remarkable displays but smiles and laughs all around. Kent Union, RISistance is Futile, DoNATS, Back to the Future (Student) and Marlowe all topped their groups. Despite playing continuously for 2 hours, Sports Development Manager, Billy, finished last in both his groups.
Shuffleboard saw varied performances, with the main man, Dean, taking another hit for Sports Development and finishing 4th in both games.
Time for axe-throwing ace, Charlie Dast, to step up and save the honour of the Sports Development team, reportedly scoring the highest score of the evening. Again, we may need to check the CCTV on this one!
Pub Games was a hit and a new favourite in the VC’s Cup calendar! A big congratulations to Marlowe, Liquorice All Sports and CSE for jointly winning the event.
