Kent Sport health and fitness instructor Sarah Black lays out the reasons why our facilities are the best in Canterbury.
When looking for a new gym to join, the choices can be daunting. Canterbury has a wide range of gyms in and around the city that offer different price tiers, different atmospheres and choices of equipment. The choices are great, but what makes Kent Sport the best in the area?
When choosing a gym the public often look for a number of factors that will influence their personal selection and suit their lifestyles. Sometimes the decision will boil down to the price, which limits options or location which determines the gym choice. If you are lucky enough to vote on your choice by weighing up pros and cons then here are some top reasons I personally feel Kent Sport is best centre in the area.
Location
Canterbury is a beautiful city and choosing to live here comes with its perks. A nice bonus is that Kent Sport lies in the perfect place and location within the area. It is nestled in the centre of the University of Kent campus on top of glorious Tyler Hill which has views of the entire city, including the famous Canterbury Cathedral. If you do not like the hustle and bustle of busy roads, traffic and city gyms, then Kent Sport will offer you this quiet country-like peace with stunning views surrounding the Sports Centre. |

Accessibility
There’s no denying it, parking is a nightmare in Canterbury. The town has a lot of pay and display car parks, however if you tally up your gym visits with your parking fees, it will accumulate to extortionate amounts. At the University, the Sports Centre will reimburse any pay and display charge if you are visiting the gym. It also provides car parks that are free after 5pm. There are plenty of buses that come and go between the centre to the campus which you can hop on and off. If you enjoy the walk, you can use the uphill climb for your pre-gym cardio session and you’ll be pleased to have the downhill after your visit to the gym, heading home. All access within the centre is fully equipped for individuals and lifts are accessible to cater for all users. |

We also have four Olympic platforms in the ‘pit’ to focus on power-lifting as well as strength and conditioning. The gym is also equipped with suspension cables, kettlebells and power bags that will all add to your training programme. In the Sports Centre we also offer racket sports such as Squash, Badminton and table tennis. Atmosphere
Participating in sports needs atmospheric pleasure. Kent Sport bustles with a friendly, fun and dynamic energy. During term time, Kent Sport has a busy training environment which can be fun and interesting to keep your workout routine exciting. However, if you prefer using a quieter gym, our holiday periods, early mornings or during lecture hours would be the best time to attend. There will always be availability to use equipment, no matter when you attend. The experience will always be memorable and hopefully pleasant which is one of the reasons Kent Sport is the best gym in the area. |
