Following a 50 day break since the London World Triathlon series race, the next event on the ITU World Triathlon Series calendar took place in Hamburg. Kent Sport Physiotherapist Vicky Annis was with the Great Britain team for the race. British athletes Vicky Holland won second place while Non Stanford achieved third. Unfortunately Jodie Stimpson was unable to finish the bike course due to a mechanical problem. Having two British athletes back on the podium was great to see. In recent events America, Australia and France have seen multiple athletes in the top positions.
After the sprint distance race on the Saturday, it was important to ensure the four athletes taking part in the mixed relay Triathlon World Championships the following day were ready to compete. It is incredible to see the athletes working tirelessly on the Saturday but also the team atmosphere on the Sunday was inspirational. The British quartet came away with the bronze medal.
“It is great to still be involved with the Great Britain team in addition to my full time role at the Kent Sport Physiotherapy Clinic. Since the triathlon I have been helping a couple of clients who are taking on the incredible challenge of crossing the Channel over the coming weeks. I mentioned this challenge to the triathletes in Hamburg who thought that swimming the Channel was an unbelievable challenge. This just shows how humble the triathletes are who have achieved medals at an array of the biggest championships possible”.
The Kent Sport Physiotherapy Clinic will be holding a Running Workshop at the Pavilion, Canterbury campus on Saturday 15th August which is open to everyone.
