10 days to the day we embark on our MBA study tour to Brussels and Paris, we were delighted to welcome the MEP for South East England, and the current Leader of the Conservatives MEP, Richard Ashworth to Kent Business School where he delivered a talk about the fundamentals of the European Union.
Richard also discussed the global world we live in and some of the issues he felt that the European Union and the United Kingdom will need to deal with. These included inequality, climate change, population demographics change, global competition as well as migration. There were several evocative questions and although there wasn’t enough time to get into detail, I’m sure the class is coming up with many more for our trip in under 10 days! Richard also praised the University for the quality of the course on offer and was impressed with the calibre of students and the range of countries around the world that they originated from. He said he was looking forward to welcoming the students to Brussels next week where their studies will include a visit to the European Parliament
Richard will be co-hosting the Kent MBA together with another MEP Timothy Kirkhope, the MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, in Brussels, on the 31st of March 2014.
We are very much looking forward to further discussions with the MEPs as the one hour session only whetted our appetite for more! As one student said ‘I wish we were there this Monday!’ I don’t think he was joking!
