This July, Kent Business School is welcoming back its alumni for a unique opportunity to reconnect, up-skill, and be inspired at the Alumni Summer School. Whether you graduated last year or decades ago, this free event is your chance to enhance your knowledge, expand your network, and celebrate lifelong learning with fellow alumni.
What is the Alumni Summer School?
Taking place in the first week of July, the KBS Alumni Summer School is an award-winning initiative that brings together undergraduates, postgraduates, and MBA alumni for an enriching series of workshops, discussions, and networking events. The programme is designed to equip you with cutting-edge business insights, practical leadership skills, and the tools to thrive in today’s ever-changing professional landscape.
How will it benefit you?
- Free professional development: The Summer School provides a diverse range of interactive workshops under the themes of ‘How to…’ and ‘How do…’, designed to boost your leadership, strategic thinking, and industry-specific expertise
- Hybrid learning options: Whether you’re nearby or halfway across the world, you can participate in person or online — ensuring no one misses out on this transformative experience
- Networking and collaboration: If you choose to attend in person, you’ll enjoy exclusive networking drinks at the end of each day, reconnecting with old classmates and forging new professional connections
- Award-winning experience: KBS is proud to have won a prestigious global award for this initiative, highlighting the impact and excellence of our alumni-focused programmes
- Workshops led by alumni and experts: Many sessions are facilitated by fellow alumni, offering real-world insights and a collaborative learning environment
What’s in store?
The three-day programme, running from Wednesday 2 July to Friday 4 July, features a range of workshops tailored to help you stay ahead in your career. You can expect engaging sessions led by industry experts, KBS faculty, and fellow alumni, covering topics such as:
- How to understand Fintechs and the value they could add to your organisation
- How to engage with the future: debating reality, work, and life
- How to co-create wellbeing through transformative collaboration
- How to integrate AI with effective frameworks for risk management and business resilience
- How to balance operational resilience with net-zero ambitions
- How do we use our entrepreneurial skills to drive social and community change
- How to deliver a sustainable approach for digital transformation in healthcare
- How to reconcile NHS policy and practice: exploring the associations between NHS policy dynamics and widening health inequalities in England
Alumni participation has been instrumental in shaping the programme. For example, four out of eight workshops in 2024 were delivered by alumni (and again in 2025 no less than seven alumni will be presenting) demonstrating the strong engagement and contribution from the KBS network.
Real impact: What alumni are saying
The Alumni Summer School has made a lasting impact on those who have attended. Here’s what some of our participants have said:
Shubhra Kamat (MBA 2022): “My experience at Kent Business School’s Summer School on embedding AI in organisations was truly inspiring and transformative. I am immensely grateful to KBS for organising such a remarkable programme.”
Stylianos Fontrier (MBA 1993): “The workshop sessions touched upon actual and hot global topics: health and social care, crisis decision-making, AI, sustainability, and resilience in organisational change. Kudos to the KBS MBA team for this great up-skilling opportunity – looking forward to the next one.”
Yasamin Talebi (MSc International Management 2024): “This programme broadened my academic and professional horizons. It covered critical topics and fostered a stimulating environment for critical thinking and scholarly discourse.”
Waqas Paracha (BBA 2010): “These informative sessions provided a great learning experience. Such seminars should take place regularly for alumni, so we keep growing and stay connected.”
