British Academy Small Research grant award for Green Finance project

The BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grant, worth a maximum of £10,000, are awarded primarily to facilitate research in humanities and social sciences. This award aims at UK based researchers or international collaborative research team with UK based researchers as the lead.

Interim Director of CEQUFIN, Dr. Mohammad Hasan, Senior Lecturer in Finance at KBS, being the principal applicant in a team consisting of colleagues from University of Portsmouth, UK and East West University, Bangladesh, has recently been awarded the grant worth £9,795.72 for financing their project on Green Bond. Green bond is used to finance environmentally friendly projects. To date, the green bonds issuance stands at 1.956 trillion US dollars (Climate bond initiative, 2022). The importance of green assets in portfolio decarbonization has risen significantly after the Paris Agreement and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is due to: (i) rising consumer preferences for green bonds, and (ii) green bonds found to outperform brown bonds.

In the awarded project, Dr Mohammad and his team will primarily look into filling in some identified gaps in the literature.
