Beth Fox – the aftermath

Hey everyone, it’s Beth again.

Firstly, thank you soooooooo much to everyone who came and supported the show last Friday – especially with the dreaded ‘c’ word going around. Honestly, I had such a great time and was slightly overwhelmed by how you guys laughed with me (at me?) and took time out of your evenings to listen to the deaf girl be funny.

I think it’s fair to say the acts were amazing and Olly makes for a cracking host. Also, fun fact, I actually had to pee BAD whilst performing and was not just pretending for the sake of one poem. I swear Mr Fruit Salad made it seem like he was about to finish every five minutes and then it led me into a vicious circle of ‘I’ll go now, wait no he’s finishing, okay NOW, never mind I’ll be on soon’ until I was actually on stage about to wet myself. I didn’t. I did have one of the best wees in my life after my set though.

Who knows when I’ll get to see you guys again but hopefully it’s soon and I hope everyone keeps well.

Beth xxxx

Beth Fox writes

Hi there. My name is Beth Fox and I’ve been in the stand-up comedy game for a little over a year now. I’m a drama student here at UKC and fell into comedy by pure chance as I chose a module called Popular Performance, not knowing it was about comedy, poetry and spoken word. Since then, I have organised monthly comedy gigs at Bramley’s (watch out for April’s gig) and performed a few places around campus. I was absolutely GASSED to be asked to do Funny Rabbit and broaden my comedy horizons.

I was recently told that I’m losing my hearing and all I could think of in that moment was “nice, more comedy material” so expect deaf jokes; they don’t call me Deaf Beth for nothing. Writing comedic poetry became a trait of mine a few months ago not for any reason other than people laughed more.

Olly, thanks for giving me a platform to perform on and I can’t wait to perform at the Gulb for you guys.
