Music and Audio Technology launch ‘Place and Play’ virtual exhibition

Music and Audio Technology launched their virtual exhibition, Place and Play, on Friday 14 May. Place and Play is the final submission for a Stage 3 module taught within Music and Audio Technology, Collaborative Project. Supervised by Lecturers and Collaborative Artists, Dr Jackie Walduck and Dr Blanca Regina, the students worked in groups to create their audio-visual pieces.

Dr Walduck shares: “The Collaborative Project module explores collaborative artists, models of artistic collaboration such as collage, dialogical models and role-taking, and explores software such as Madmapper and Logic Audio. The students’ creativity is unleashed on a project brief: to create a 5 min audio-visual work on the theme ‘Place and Play’.

Responding to Covid-19, and remote creativities, the exhibited works explore dis/connection, distance, place, perspective, through a creative play of sound and image.”

Place and Play explores new networking technology, presented in a virtual gallery created by Dr Blanca Regina. The gallery is a fully interactive space, best explored using a computer (a tablet has less functionality). You can enter as your avatar, and interact verbally and via the chat with others in the space.

Explore Place and Play online now, and use the code 219827 if required.

For interested students, the final year 15-credit module Collaborative Project is based in the School of Arts; emphatically, students from all disciplines are welcome to take it as an optional module in the Spring term.
