Una’s Talk for the RAL PhD meeting (held today in ISIS)

Today Una Karahasanovic gave a very exciting talk about “New Phases of Matter close to Quantum Critical Points”. The seminar covered a broad range of topics, going from phase transitions in general into more curious concepts such as the role of Fermi surface deformations and Quantum fluctuations in understanding the picture of Quantum phases of matter. Una handled the talk encouraging the interaction with the audience and it was indeed characterized by a very intense discussion that involved all of us.

This seminar is part of a series of informal meetings that PhD students from Diamond and ISIS promote along RAL. The aim is to have the chance to meet up between students and discuss about science from different perspectives. Not only is a very good occasion to get to know what kind of research is done in RAL, but a great possibility to start new collaborations.

Last but not least, it is also about the pleasure of socializing with other students from different universities and with different backgrounds.
