Bibliographical Society Announces 2025 Gold Medallist

The Bibliographical Society, founded in 1892, is the senior learned society dealing with the study of the book and its history.

The 2025 Gold Medal will be awarded this year to Dr David Shaw, a MEMS Research Fellow, in recognition of his distinguished services to bibliography, including in the Cathedral Libraries Catalogue and his many publications on French and English printing. Nicolas Bell, Society President, will have the honour of presenting the medal to Dr Shaw at the first lecture meeting of the new academic year, on 18 November, 2025.

Dr Shaw’s most recent presentation to the Society was the Graham Pollard Memorial Lecture for 2025 on The Settlement Act of 1697, entitled “The Stationers and the Poor Law“. A complete list of his digital productions, as well as his other publications, can be found at djshaw.uk.
