Honorary degrees in Law to be conferred in July

The Hon Dame Linda Dobbs DBE will receive a Doctor of Letters at the congregation ceremony for undergraduate graduands from Kent Law School at Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday 13 July, in recognition of her pioneering role as a non-white woman in the senior judiciary.

Ambassador Ivo Daalder, who was the US Permanent Representative to NATO and who studied politics at the University, will receive a Doctor of Civil Law at Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday 13 July at 7.30pm, the congregation ceremony for postgraduate graduands from Kent Law School, in recognition of his contribution to diplomacy.

The first President of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Belguim, Herman Van Rompuy, will also receive a Doctor of Civil Law, in recognition of his distinguished contribution to public life internationally, at Canterbury Cathedral on Thursday 14 July at 10.30am.

Director of victims’ group Widows against Violence Empower (WAVE), Sandra Peake MBE, will receive a Doctor of Civil Law in recognition for her pioneering work as a civil rights activist, at Canterbury Cathedral on Friday 15 July at 10.30am.
