Revision conference for Stage 2 law students

Stage 2 students at Kent Law School have been taking full advantage of a two-day revision conference arranged specifically to support their preparations for the summer exams.

The conference, organised by Lecturer Johanne Thompson and held in Grimond Lecture Theatres 1 and 2, included revision sessions covering four compulsory law modules taught during the second year of a law degree: Law of Obligations; Land Law; Equity and Trusts; and European Union Law.

More than 320 students registered for the sessions which were delivered by Per Laleng, Mairead Enright, Michalis Zivanaris, Nick Piska and Martin Hedemann-Robinson.

Additional support was provided by a team from the Kent Law School Skills Hub who set up a desk in Grimond foyer. The Skills Hub usually has a permanent base in Eliot College, where students can drop in on a daily basis to seek one-to-one support with any aspect of their academic studies. The Skills Hub also offers comprehensive support online including specific advice about preparing for assessments and exams at: www.kent.ac.uk/library/subjects/lawlinks/skills-hub/assessment.html

Students wishing to seek further advice and support can see their academic adviser for study-related queries or one of the Law Advisers for any personal, social or medical problems that might be affecting their studies. Module specific queries can also be directed to seminar leaders or the module convenor. All staff have office hours, when they set aside time specifically to see students or students can email them directly with any questions.

It’s the second year the revision conference has been held, replacing an earlier exam preparation event which wasn’t able to accommodate as many students. Exam season begins on Monday, the first day of the summer term.
