Kent Law School Welcomes Visiting Scholar Mahnaz Ajaz

Kent Law School welcomes Mahnaz Ajaz as a visitor to the Centre for Sexuality, Race and Gender Justice (SeRGJ).
Mahnaz Ajaz is a legal academic who is researching reproductive rights in the conflict-affected region of Jammu and Kashmir, with attention to the socio-legal and ethical dimensions of reproductive justice and the lived experiences of women navigating reproductive healthcare within a complex socio-political and legal landscape. Mahnaz will be with us until the end of July 2026 and will be speaking at an upcoming SeRGJ seminar.
Here is a short description of her research:
Mahnaz’s research focuses on reproductive justice, gender and law in conflict-affected regions, with particular emphasis on Jammu and Kashmir. Her work is informed by feminist perspectives and centres on questions of autonomy, especially women’s reproductive autonomy within complex socio-political contexts. Drawing on empirical research, she examines the socio-legal and ethical dimensions of reproductive rights and explores how legal frameworks, healthcare systems and conditions of conflict shape women’s reproductive choices and lived experiences.
We are pleased to host Mahnaz and look forward to the valuable contributions her visit will bring.
