Students at the University of Kent benefit from the opportunity to join over 250 student groups. Student groups are student-run communities with shared aims or interests, ranging from sports to charitable causes. They organise everything from regular meetups and social events, to offering academic support or international trips. You can search for groups on the Kent Students’ Union website here.
To celebrate the start of the new academic year, several of the law related societies came together on 6th October to host a joint social event.
Madalina Gavriliuc, undergraduate law student and Vice President of Marketing for ELSA Kent, tells us about the event:
“We kicked off the term with our first joint social of the year, collaborating with seven other societies to welcome everyone to a fresh start – and it was definitely a hit! Thanks to our amazing host, Matches Canterbury, we had the entire floor to ourselves for a night full of games, socialising, and fun. It was fantastic to see everyone come together, with our committee members working hard to create a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone felt welcome. From darts to bingo, there was something for all, and the huge turnout showed just how much our community values connection across all stages of our law cohort. It was also incredibly rewarding to see our members enjoying themselves, bonding with others, and even showing off impressive pool skills we didn’t know they had! Moments like these remind us why we love hosting events that bring people together, a breather from our studies.”
The next event is a Halloween Social on 27th October from 7.00pm back at Matches but on a different floor. This is hosted by ELSA, Kent Student Law Society, Kent Global Commercial Network, Criminal Law Society, Human Rights Law Society and Kent Law Temple Society.
