International law firm Clifford Chance offers vacation scheme prize to Kent students

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance LLP have offered Kent students a chance to win a place on their vacation scheme during one of three recent visits to the Canterbury campus.

The firm, one of Britain’s leading ‘Magic Circle’ law firms, offered the prize to students participating in their annual Intelligent Aid competition. Competing students were asked to answer a question about the rule of law in 500 words, demonstrating their intelligence, their ability to structure convincing arguments and their appreciation of practicalities.

Representatives from the firm came to campus to run an interactive workshop designed to help students submit an effective answer. Shortlisted finalists (selected from all universities taking part) will have a chance to win one of 20 places on the firm’s £400 per week vacation scheme with one overall winner receiving £5,000 towards their university fees.

In two further visits to the Kent campus, Clifford Chance took a stand at the recent Kent Student Law Society Law Fair in October and offered insights into commercial awareness in a presentation for aspiring lawyers earlier this month.

Graduate Recruitment and Development Manager Laura Yeates said: ‘Clifford Chance was delighted to have the opportunity to come to Kent, not once but three times this Autumn. Attending the Law Fair and running an Intelligent Aid workshop allowed us to meet a huge number of students and we very much hope that a significant number of them will go on to apply for one of our schemes.

‘We are committed to finding exceptional future lawyers and providing them with support and guidance throughout their careers. We very much hope that this is the start of a very successful relationship between Clifford Chance and the University of Kent.
