Framing the subjects and objects of contemporary EU law – a joint workshop taking place in November

The Kent Centre for European and Comparative Law at Kent Law School, and Institute for the Study of European Laws at the City Law School, City University London are holding a joint workshop entitled ‘Framing the subjects and objects of contemporary EU law’ in London on 6 November.

This workshop will explore how we frame the subjects and objects of contemporary European Union (EU) law. It will explore the particular relevance of the subject/object paradigm for the analysis of EU Law, given its emergence as a new legal order of public international law.

Contributors to the event will discuss the significant changes which surround the subjects and objects of contemporary EU Law as a result of the evolution of the EU’s internal and external competences, and how knowledge and identification of the subjects and objects of EU Law is fundamental for legal certainty, for the rule of law, and for the EU’s legitimacy in the wider world.

Confirmed speakers for the event include:
Dr Samo Bardutzky (University of Kent); Dr Andrés Casteleiro-Delgado (Durham University); Dr Marios Costa (City University London); Dr Julie Dickson (University of Oxford); Professor Michelle Everson (Birkbeck); Dr Elaine Fahey (City University London); Professor Sir Francis Jacobs QC (King’s College London); Dr Emilia Korkea-aho (University of Helsinki); Professor Dora Kostakopoulou (University of Warwick); Dr Damjan Kukovec (European Commission); Professor Laurent Pech (University of Middlesex); Dr Alina Tryfonidou (University of Reading); Ilaria Vianello (EUI, Florence)
