Criminal Justice Project guest speaker event with local Police Community Support Officer

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Mollie Proctor has been invited to speak to students about her role on Monday 2 February.

The talk is one of a series of guest speaker events organised by the Criminal Justice Project (CJP) team based at Kent Law Clinic.

PCSO Proctor, whose beat covers the area encompassing the University of Kent, will talk about some of the challenges she faces in her job, the extent of her enforcement powers, and how her role relates to that of the police officer. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask their questions. It is likely to be of particular interest to students studying criminal law and policing modules but is open to all.

The talk will begin at 2pm in Keynes Seminar Room 4. Further details are available on the event’s Facebook page.

Further CJP guest speakers lined up for this term include:

  • Deborah McLening, Volunteer Unit Manager at the Canterbury Offender Management Unit, on Tuesday 10 February at 6pm in W1 Sr5 (Woolf)
  • Adrian Futers, Detective Chief Superintendent (Head of Criminal Justice) at Kent Police on Wednesday 3 March at 3pm in KLT3 (Keynes)
  • Helen Smith-Tomlinson, Kent alumnus and Probation Officer with Thanet Probation Office, Margate, on Tuesday 31 March at 6pm in GS3 (Grimond)

Each of the sessions will last for one hour and is open to both students and staff.
