Considering postgraduate study in Law? Come to one of our open events

Final year law and non-law students are invited to learn more about postgraduate funding and study opportunities at Kent Law School by coming to one of a number of open events taking place in Canterbury and Brussels.

Postgraduate programmes at Kent Law School are open to all graduates from a relevant discipline (an undergraduate degree in law is not a requirement) and may be of particular interest to students interested in developing their legal skills.

A Postgraduate Open Day for all visitors will be held on our Canterbury campus on Saturday 26 November from 10am to 1pm in Darwin Conference Suite. This event offers an excellent opportunity for students to speak to specialist academics and admissions staff about Kent Law School’s innovative, one-year Masters in Law programme, the Kent LLM.

The Kent LLM enables students to broaden and deepen their knowledge and understanding of law by specialising in one or more different areas, according to their career interests and aspirations, even if they are a non-law graduate. Students have the opportunity to develop specialisms in a host of subject areas including:

The Open Day also offers a chance to find out about Kent’s £9m postgraduate scholarship fund, our competitive fees and the Global Skills Award and Researcher Development Programme that can help enhance your career prospects.

Two LLM programmes are also offered at Kent’s centre in Brussels and prospective students are invited to attend an Open Event at the Brussels School of International Studies on Tuesday 22 November from 5pm to 7.30pm. (This event also offers an opportunity to explore any of the undergraduate programmes offered at Kent Law School’s Canterbury campus.)

A further Open Event is planned in Brussels on Saturday 25 February 2017 and a further Postgraduate Open Event will be held on our Canterbury campus on Tuesday 7 March, from 5pm to 7pm.

Kent Law School is hosting a Postgraduate Research Funding Open Day on Wednesday 30 November. The event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, will cover topics such as how to write a good proposal, how to find a supervisor, and how to apply for scholarships and funding. Law School academic staff will explain the admissions system, introduce you to potential supervisors, give you a free lunch, and give you feedback on your proposal.  Places for the Open Day are limited to 25; to apply, please send an email (by 4pm on Monday 14 November) to klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk including your name, address, and any institutional affiliation along with:

  1. A draft research proposal
  2. A maximum one page CV
  3. A list of up to two academics at Kent Law School whom you have already contacted with a view to applying for a PhD.
