Kent Student Law Review (KSLR), a student-led publication showcasing critical legal scholarship at Kent Law School, has announced an open call for submissions for its third issue.

The Editorial Board is seeking submissions of between 3,000 and 10,000 words by 2pm on Wednesday 15 February. Shorter submissions of high quality will also be considered as will case comments and book reviews (but these should not exceed 3,000 words).

The journal provides a unique platform for undergraduate and postgraduate law students to have their work peer reviewed and published. Its stated aim is to publish the very best of theoretically informed critical legal scholarship that is the best representation of law in society.

All manuscripts must be uploaded in Microsoft Word format in KLSR’s house style. Full details of the call for submissions is available on the KSLR website: https://journals.kent.ac.uk/index.php/kslr

Submissions are subject to a double blind review where neither the reviewers’ nor the author’s identities are known to one another. Final decisions regarding the publishing of submissions will be made by the KSLR Editorial Board and will ultimately be based upon quality of research and writing, diversity and fit with the focus and philosophy of KSLR.

This year’s Editorial Board comprises Editor-in-Chief Miguel Darling together with Managing Editors Nia Dara Diandra Brathwaite, Damian Harateh and Katelynn O’Neill. They are supported by Academic Advisory Team members Nick Piska and Dr Donal Casey.

The journal was was first established in 2013 by founding Editors-in-Chief, Nico Mesiainen and Ayda Tabrizi, with the support of Harley Ronan, former President of the Kent Critical Law Society. The founding members believed the journal would help show the legal community the unique, diverse and intellectual stimulation that is provided to Kent Law School students.  The first volume was published in October 2014 and the second volume was published in April 2016 under the editorship of Patrik Jacobsson and Cynthia Lei.
