A one-day conference critically examining the ways in which African nations are tackling the evolving threat of global terrorism will be held at Kent on Saturday.
The ‘Africa Security Summit’, cohosted by Kent Law School’s Centre for Critical International Law (CeCIL) together with Africa Security Forum (UK), will begin at 9am in the Wigoder Law Building on Kent’s Canterbury campus.
Among the speakers will be Kent International Commercial Law expert Dr Gbenga Oduntan. Dr Oduntan will be helping to lead two workshops during the day, the first on ‘Financial Terrorism and Corruption Challenges’ with the President of Africa Security Forum Temitope Olodo, and the second on ‘Brexit and Africa Security Post 2019’ with Human Security Consultant Olivia Joseph Aluko.
Special guest speakers include:
- Professor Roberto Mugavero, the President of the Observatory on Security and CBRNe Defence: ‘The evolving threat of terrorism and changing the narrative’
- Dr Laura Quadarella Sanfelice, a Professor of Counter Terrorism at Niccolo Cusano University: ‘Understanding why terrorists attach Europe and lessons for Africa’
- Professor Cornel Steely from the Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona: ‘Improving Africa crime scene management using best practice’.
