Kent’s annual Law Fair is going virtual this year, with excellent networking opportunities available online between 1pm and 5pm on Wednesday 4 November.
The Law Fair is organised each year by Kent Student Law Society (KSLS) and is open to all Kent students with an interest in pursuing a legal career.
This year’s event will be hosted on the platform Hopin with each exhibitor hosting their own ‘expo booth’. Students will be able to enter and exit expo booths to ask questions or listen to conversations. You can choose to turn your camera on when asking questions (for a more interactive experience) or you can opt to pose questions in the live chat.
Check out the booths and download your copy of the Virtual Law Fair brochure from Hopin.
Law Fair organiser Yvonne Hamboulla said: ‘There can only be 10 cameras on each time in each expo booth so students will not have their cameras on unless they want to ask a question. After receiving their answer/s they should turn off the camera for someone else to ‘come up’ on stage.’

Yvonne stressed the value of preparing for the event in advance: ‘The most important thing is to research the attendees that will be there and to try to talk to as many exhibitors as they can and to a range of attendees, not just law firms.’
‘How to prepare for a Law Fair’
To help students prepare, KSLS will host a virtual talk from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday 3 November with Kent Law School Alumnus Matthew Speed who is now a solicitor at Pinsent Masons. His talk on ‘How to prepare for a Law Fair’ will be held on Microsoft Teams – register on Eventbrite and learn how to get grips with networking.

KSLS is one of eight student law societies at Kent Law School. Its primary aim is to support students exploring the option of a career in law as a solicitor. The Society holds talks, CV and interview workshops, and seminars with professionals from different careers and backgrounds throughout the term. It also offers a broad range of social events, including the Annual Law Dinner in February where students can wine and dine with legal professionals.
