You said. We did.

Kent Sport members and non-members let us know what they think about sport facilities and services at the University of Kent in our annual survey. A big thank you to all participants for sharing your views. All feedback helps us to continually improve and enhance what Kent Sport offers.

Graham Holmes, Director of Kent Sport said, “With 90% of respondents happy with their experience overall at the Sports Centre and 89% happy with their experience overall at The Pavilion we are pleased that so many are enjoying the sports facilities and activities. We will continue developing our facilities, expanding our services and adding value to our membership, recognizing the importance of sport and recreation on campus. We are looking forward to the completion of the new 3G pitch, along with the development of a cycle hub and with many ongoing improvements it will be another exciting year.”

Along with survey feedback suggesting facility improvements, such as 85% of respondents wanting to prioritise the development of a pool facility on campus, we were also pleased to receive many positive comments such as:

“The reception staff do an incredible job. They are always friendly, keen to help and generally a pleasure to deal with.”

“The Sport Centre staff are very approachable and keen to provide tips or guidance.”

While 76% of respondents were happy with the range of fitness and dance classes available, many of you indicated that you would like to see more high intensity classes such as ‘Insanity’, more dance classes such as ‘Fitsteps’ and more intensive yoga classes. We are delighted that so many of you enjoy the Kent Sport fitness and dance classes and hope the new class timetable will excite you.

You also told us that you would like to see more unique events and more sports and classes aimed at beginners. We have organized an exciting range of activities this year including bubble football, UV sport, Kent Sport Gladiators, a Quidditch tournament and lots more – see our events calendar for details. There will also be a total of 65 hours of sport per week at both the Canterbury and Medway campuses brought to you by the Let’s Play team. Let’s Play provides students and staff, regardless of age or ability, with the opportunity to enjoy 30-minute sessions and to try different activities without needing to be a Kent Sport member.

We also found that 51% of respondents were not aware that the Kent Sport Physiotherapy Clinic offers a sports massage service. The Physiotherapy Clinic is an excellent facility in the Sports Centre fitness suite and open to Kent Sport members and non-members. The qualified staff can help everyone from recreational to elite sports people.

Amanda Huxley, University of Kent student, winner of Kent Sport’s 2015 survey

The Kent Sport annual survey participants were entered into a prize draw to receive a £100 Amazon voucher. Our lucky winner is Amanda Huxley, a University of Kent student. Amanda was thrilled to be named the winner of our survey saying, “Thanks again so much for the draw and I’m so lucky to have been chosen. I am an active person and find that it’s important to stay healthy and exercise is a big part of that, but it has to be fun and enjoyable too!”

You can read more about the results of the Kent Sport survey in the 2015/16 issue of our On The Move magazine. We have also created a dedicated webpage to feedback and will continually update it as we receive your comments and make changes to our facilities.
