Keep your fitness routine going wherever you are! The University of Kent is part of the UNIversal Gym scheme, run by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). It gives eligible Kent students and staff access to fitness facilities at over 50 participating universities across the UK, at no additional cost.
Whether you’re visiting friends, heading home or away on placement, you can keep active while you’re away from Kent.
Kent Sport also welcomes eligible UNIversal Gym members from other participating universities to use our facilities during our opening hours.
Who is eligible?
The scheme is available to University of Kent students and staff who hold a Premium Plus Annual membership with Kent Sport.
Please note: monthly memberships are not eligible for the scheme.
How to register
Follow these three steps to get started:
- Create an account on the BUCS UNIversal Gym website.
- Email memberships@kent.ac.uk once you’ve applied. We don’t receive notifications of applications straight away, so please let us know to help avoid delays in approving your membership.
- Collect your UNIversal Gym card from reception at the Sports Centre or The Pavilion once your application has been approved.

You can visit participating university fitness facilities across the UK. Check the BUCS UNIversal Gym website for the full list of venues, along with any access restrictions or requirements before visiting.
