Last week, all 9 teams were brought together for the first session of the 2026 tournament, kicking off with a team favourite, VC Cup Pickleball!
Our 9 VC Cup teams played against each other in 5 minute games, where quick attacks and strong defences were key in getting off the mark quickly to gain a lead. A particularly exciting match occurred between the teams Winter Soldiers and Ctrl+Alt+Win, both exchanging points and services until Winter Soldiers tipped the scales in their favour to win the match 8-4. Another exciting watch for all spectators and umpires was the match between Flu Fighters and Marlowe’s Marauders, both teams playing exceptionally well with quick point gain from both sides, resulting in a tantalising score of 15-13 to Flu Fighters.
As the event drew to a close, it became clear that there was a close call between teams fighting for victory. All teams competed fiercely against their components, but there could only be one winner.
Congratulations to our winning team, PIINATS, who had a winning streak of matches. This, along with their well-played use of their Joker token, shot them to the top of the tournament leader board with an astounding 41 points. Liquorice All Sports following in second, and Marlowe’s Marauders closely in third.

Thank you to all the teams an participants who were able to attend the first event of the 2026 tournament. It was a pleasure to see everyone following the hiatus after the closing of the tournament during the Quiz in September. We have many more activities coming up over the next few months and we can’t wait to see what our teams bring to the table. We look forward to seeing our VC Cup teams tackle a new challenge at our next event, VC Cup Korfball!
