Kent Scholar doubles and triples her way to figure skating success

Congratulations to University of Kent Sports Scholar Alexandra Appleby who placed 5th overall in the ladies’ senior category of the Club International Figure Skating competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Alex was competing as part of Sapphire Ice representing the Romford GBR team in only her second time competing in the ladies’ senior category – the highest level. Her combined score of 75.15 was a personal best and at the time of writing (subject to approval) places her 7th in the British Ice-Skating Senior International Rankings – a fantastic achievement.

Alex informs us: “This was my first competition since the pandemic and the program was made up of a double axel, a double loop, double toe-loop combination jumps, and a triple salchow. Across both programs, I achieved my highest component scores. My goal for my next competition is to achieve all level 4 spins, which should boost my technical score further.”

Congratulations Alex!
