Anna Marfuad nominated for the Joel Richards Inspire Award

FA National Youth Council Award

The Joel Richards Inspire Award, established in 2016 by the England FA National Youth Council, honours the legacy of Joel Richards—a talented and compassionate youth leader tragically lost in the 2015 Tunisia attack. The award recognises outstanding young people who inspire change, uplift others, and make a lasting impact through football.
This year, Anna’s nomination by Alai Ayyakannu, a National Football Development Assistant at BUCS, and shortlisting as one of the top three finalists nationally is a powerful testament to her exceptional leadership and the influence she has had as President of Kent Women’s Football. Her commitment and vision have not only been recognised—they’ve been celebrated on a national stage.
Anna was specifically commended for her transformative work in reshaping women’s football and futsal at the University of Kent. From launching the university’s first intramural women’s league and pioneering inclusive playing opportunities, to driving cultural change across campus, her leadership has redefined what’s possible. Her achievement will also be showcased as part of the FA Leadership Academy Graduation Ceremony, highlighting her impact at the highest level of youth football leadership. Her legacy is one of empowerment, growth, and inspiration.
We are incredibly proud to congratulate Anna on this remarkable achievement. Her recognition reflects not only her individual excellence but also highlights the exceptional work being done by Kent Students’ Union’s sports clubs and societies across the University.
This moment stands as a shining example of what passionate leadership, resilience, and vision can accomplish. Well done, Anna — your impact is truly extraordinary.
