Due to the extreme heat forecast, we are temporarily suspending all high-intensity sports in our indoor sports halls and the indoor tennis centre on Friday 26 June to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.
Suspended Activities
The following indoor bookings and activities will be suspended / cancelled for Friday 26 June:
- Tennis
- Badminton
- Pickleball
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Indoor Football / 5-a-side
- Indoor Cricket
All cancelled bookings will receive a refund or can rebook free of charge. Please contact reception on 01227 823623.
Why This Action is Necessary
Our multi-sports halls do not have mechanical air conditioning and rely on natural ventilation. With indoor temperatures projected to exceed safe athletic thresholds, the combination of high heat and humidity creates a severe risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
GYM AND FITNESS CLASSES (OPEN):
These facilities are fully air-conditioned and operating as normal. Please stay hydrated and take regular rest breaks!
OUTDOOR FACILITIES (OPEN):
All outdoor pitches remain OPEN. If you are playing outdoors, please ensure you:
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after your session.
- Wear high-SPF sunscreen protection and a hat.
- Take regular breaks in shaded areas.
We apologise for the inconvenience, but the safety of our players must come first. We expect sports hall activities to resume on Saturday 27 June.
