The VC Cup returned to Boom Battle Bar with staff competing in a range of pub games
The latest instalment of the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup took staff teams off campus and into the lively setting of Boom Battle Bar Canterbury for an evening of fun energy pub-style competition!
With great music playing and a vibrant bar atmosphere throughout the night, teams competed across three classic pub games: shuffleboard, axe throwing, and darts. Each activity tested a different skill set, from precision and control to teamwork and composure under time pressure, creating a well-rounded and engaging competition.
The event maintained a relaxed and friendly tone, with plenty of laughter, encouragement, and inter-departmental camaraderie on display. Whether teams were aiming for a perfect dart score or trying their hand at axe throwing for the first time, the focus remained firmly on the shared experience and enjoyment.
The competition proved to be a close and exciting contest, with Last Ones Standing emerging as overall winners on 20 points following consistently strong performances across all three activities. Just one point behind, Marlowe’s Marauders secured second place with 19 points, pushing the winners right to the end. PIINATS claimed third place with 18 points, closely followed by Winter Soldiers on 17 points. BDRI rounded out the standings with a solid effort, finishing on 16 points.
A standout aspect of the night was the variety of activities offered. Shuffleboard brought a tactical edge, darts required accuracy and consistency, and axe throwing proved to be a crowd favourite, drawing cheers from all involved.
To round off the night, each team came together for a large, energetic game of drinks pong. This final activity captures the essence of the event, bringing everyone together, regardless of results, to enjoy the moment and make fun memories.
Overall, the VC Cup Boom Battle Bar event was a great success, offering a unique twist on traditional VC Cup activities. With a combination of competitive games, relaxed atmosphere, and strong social engagement, it provided a memorable experience for all involved and further strengthened the sense of community across the staff teams.
A big thank you to all the teams who participated. It was amazing to see you all get into the team spirit and we hope you all had a lot of fun. See you all at the next event!
