We’re incredibly proud to announce that Anna Marfuad, President of the Women’s Football Team and incoming Vice-President of Sports and Societies, has won the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award at the BUCS Football & Futsal Awards 2025!
This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have shown unwavering dedication to football and futsal in higher education — and Anna truly embodies this spirit.
Over the past year, Anna has been a driving force in expanding opportunities for women in sport on campus. From launching the women’s intramural football league to running ALL Active futsal sessions with Kent Sport — culminating in the first-ever Women’s Futsal Varsity Match against Canterbury Christ Church University — her impact has been game-changing.
Anna’s commitment goes beyond the pitch:
- She led the UKC Women’s team to be the pilot for Strength & Conditioning training, advancing performance and injury prevention.
- She provided grassroots coaching opportunities for players, helping them develop leadership and coaching skills.
- She supported Kent Sport holiday camps, engaging with the wider community.
- She successfully utilized BUCS Play to streamline the intramural league, even leading to one lucky player winning free England tickets.
- Her drive helped secure Kent FA funding for women-only sessions, resulting in 30+ free tickets to the England vs Spain match.

Anna has also been instrumental in promoting inclusivity, working with the Student Union to raise awareness of diversity in sport and organizing fundraisers with women’s sports societies.
Anna’s leadership, passion, and relentless energy have left a lasting legacy on campus and within the student football community.
In Anna’s own words:
I’m absolutely over the moon to have been able to bring a smaller university like Kent into the spotlight through women’s football. To stand out alongside institutions like Loughborough, Warwick, and Oxford, despite having less funding, fewer facilities, and being entirely student-led, shows just how much passion and determination can achieve. We’ve proven that it’s possible to build a pathway for girls to play and thrive in the sport. I’m incredibly proud that my work has helped lay a strong foundation for UKCWFC, and I truly hope the club continues to grow and inspire for years to come.
