This was the key topic of discussion at our recent Business Soundbites event held at Kent Business School Medway campus on the Historic Dockyard.
Visitors to the event heard from our guest presenters – what do we mean by digital transformation? What are the challenges and benefits of incorporating digital technologies into business operations? At what stage in the process are our organisations? Ahead or lagging behind? How might we get started?
Our guest speakers for the evening were Neil Gibb, a thought leader in the area of structural change driven by new thinking and technology and author of the new book The Participation Revolution. ‘It begins with a quote from the mindfulness guru Jon Kbat-Zinn,’ said Neil ‘You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.’ A point taken up by Ahmed Nuaman, CEO Firemind, a full-service digital agency, who provided an overview of many of the key brands Firemind have worked with in developing digital solutions.
Our third guest speaker, Ronnie McBryde, MD of Sustainability Monitor is an expert in global consumer insight and market intelligence having previously worked at Mintel and Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty who provided an overview of how entrepreneurs can embrace digital technologies using his own experience to highlight the opportunities that technology offers.
A Q&A session with the panel followed the presentations and opportunities to network.
‘KBS’s Business is an excellent way to raise the profile of our company, said Ronnie, speaking to a wide group of academics brought up several possible opportunities to work together in future projects, none of which were foreseeable before the event as I wasn’t aware of all of KBS’s activities in digital marketing.’
