The Kent Business School has developed an event series with the Courier Media Group aimed at improving the growth and performance of businesses in West Kent.
The first event titled ‘Sustaining Growth in the Current Climate’ was held on Tuesday 28th June and attracted over 40 West Kent businesses. The session was hosted by two of the School’s academics, Dr Mark Gilman and Simon Raby, who provided participants with valuable tips for improving performance, as well as an opportunity to network and learn from the experiences of other business leaders.
Dr Mark Gilman of the Kent Business School commented: ‘Even prior to recessionary pressures, businesses are not achieving their aspirations for growth and performance. Realising their ambitions for growth and performance will only be possible if business leaders understand that time must be spent on considering their own future and that of their business, and not solely focussing on managing the day-to-day activities of their firm’.
Simon Raby of Kent Business School commented: ‘The partnership between the Kent Business School and the Courier Media Group demonstrates how organisations can work together for the benefit of the local business community. Local business leaders have an opportunity to gain access to the latest management tools and techniques at the Kent Business School to advance their personal and wider business potential.’

The next three workshops will focus on: building a robust strategy; engaging your people; and, understanding your customers and suppliers. The events are free to West Kent businesses and will be held at the Hotel Du Vin in Tunbridge Wells.
The next event will be held on July 26th at Hotel Du Vin and will concentrate on ‘Strategy: delivering robust plans capable of meeting your future challenges’.
