Chris Cornell, a student on the full-time Kent MBA programme, has won 3rd place in The Independent MBA Student of the Year Awards 2014. The Association of MBA awards, in partnership with the Graduate Management Admission Council, were held at a gala dinner on 30 October at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London.
The Independent MBA Student of the Year Award is a well-established and coveted award now in its 10th year. This award celebrates the achievements of MBA students who have demonstrated inspirational leadership and ambassadorial qualities that highlight the value of the MBA and their potential as a responsible leader of tomorrow.
Chris has spent the last ten years working in the voluntary sector for youth, housing and faith-based charities across the UK. He has encouraged charities to learn from business in his capacity as founder of two social enterprises, as a trustee for the YMCA and in his new role as a PhD scholar. Chris sees the MBA as an important milestone in many people’s careers, and an opportunity to learn about yourself and how business frames everyday life.
He says, “The Kent MBA has helped me to test the business practices I learnt in the voluntary sector, and develop my particular interests in human resources, strategy and change management.”
