Six lucky business school students were recently given the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a conference dedicated to the lessons of those running family businesses in the UK.
The conference “Family Business Place National Conference was the 4th annual event of this nature run by Family Business Place, the UK’s leading resource for family businesses*, working with the Centre for Employment, Competitiveness and Growth at the University of Kent. The conference provided an opportunity to explore how family businesses are responding to a range of business challenges including: branding; growth in international markets governance and succession planning; philanthropy; next generation entrepreneurs; and, social media.
As Anita Brightley Hodges comments: “We were privileged to be joined for the day by students from the Business School. Not only did they get to participate in the conference and ask our speakers some very challenging questions but, with the help of Dr Gilman and Dr Raby, their contributions will be written up and published through our widely read magazine”
