The Micro-Tyco Challenge Begins

Given just £1, how much money can your team make in just four weeks to help fund micro-loans for people starting businesses in the poorest parts of the world?

Students taking part in a month-long entrepreneurial challenge are reaching out across the University for support.

Students from Economics, Computing, Anthropology and Kent Business School have come together for the Micro-Tyco challenge where they are given £1 and have 30 days to turn it into as much money as possible.

The proceeds are then used by the global social enterprise, Wildhearts, to provide micro-finance loans to people who want to start their own businesses in poorer parts of the world.

“Micro-Tyco inspires an entrepreneurial environment that fosters creative thinking, resourcefulness and team work as well as helping pupils to develop financial literacy, communication, leadership, project management and networking skills.” – Wildhearts

The team is asking for students to support their fundraising and events and to donate via their just giving page.

Entrepreneurial ideas for fundraising include trading in shares, online coaching and virtual art classes They are also planning a virtual Christmas fair.
