Do you have a great idea but aren’t sure where to start? Are you curious about what it takes to turn a concept into a viable business – one that actually makes a difference?

Join us for the latest edition of our MBA Guest Lecture Series, where we explore the theme: ‘From idea to MVP: Building a start-up that solves real problems.’ This online session is free and open to all students, alumni, staff, and aspiring entrepreneurs across the University of Kent and beyond.

Taking place online on Friday 16 May from 12.30 to 14.00 (BST), this live panel discussion, hosted by three of our Kent MBA students, Ashish ThakreVandit Sharma and Sebastian Dennison, features four amazing speakers, including three Kent alumni, who each bring a unique perspective on innovation, strategic clarity, and the real-life challenges of launching something new.

A conversation with those who’ve done it

We’re delighted to welcome a brilliant panel of entrepreneurs who have walked the talk:

Dhiraj Saheta (MBA 2002–04) – A senior executive turned entrepreneur, Dhiraj is the Founder and Director of A&D Corporation Ltd. With a background in FMCG leadership and global market expansion, he brings a wealth of insight into brand growth, resilience, and navigating business across emerging markets.

Odera Akachukwu (MSc Supply Chain and Logistics, 2015-16) – Odera is the Founder and CEO of StayLyte, a clean energy drink brand based in Texas, USA. An entrepreneur and content creator, he’s passionate about building purpose-led businesses and inspiring others to challenge limits and lead with confidence.

Damian Merciar (MBA 1992-93) – Founder and Managing Director of Merciar Business Consulting, Damian is an experienced executive, economist and former think tank chair. He’s worked across international borders and political landscapes, bringing sharp insight into how strategic thinking and economic clarity shape business success.

Lalit Mehta is Co-Founder and CEO of Decimal Technologies Pvt Ltd, a leading fintech innovation company based in India, and Co-Founder of Saarathi.ai, which leverages AI to increase financial inclusion. With a background in business transformation, digital lending, and scalable tech platforms, Lalit brings extensive experience in turning bold ideas into real-world solutions that address systemic challenges.

Each speaker brings a unique lens on what it means to identify a problem worth solving – and how to build something real and sustainable around it. Whether you’re developing an app, designing a product, or creating a service, this session will give you tangible takeaways and the opportunity to ask your own questions during the live Q&A.
