Student Ambassador, Archer: ‘The diversity of the staff really helps’

Spotlight on our Student Ambassador, Archer Allert

Archer is studying BSc International Business and is one of our fabulous Student Ambassadors. Read about his experience of studying at Kent Business School.

What surprised you the most about studying at Kent Business School?
I think it was the diversity of staff, both lecturers and seminar leaders. I find it really helps them to connect with people from different backgrounds.
What do you love the most about studying International Business?
The best part is having the opportunity to study with so many international students. This is the case in fact, not just on my course, but across the whole University. I even know people I went to various schools with from different countries I have lived in before.
Tell us about your student life at Kent.
I am working part-time and am also involved with several societies on campus. Both of these things have helped me meet many new people from diverse backgrounds, studying different topics. The more involved and outgoing you are, even if an introvert, the more enjoyable your university experience becomes.
What do you wish you knew before you started at Kent Business School that could have helped you prepare?
My first year was the start of fully online learning, and so that was a hard adjustment. Now that we are back to face-to-face teaching in my final year, I can experience what studying at Kent is normally like. Both experiences were unique and have helped me learn even more than I could have if there had not been a pandemic. However, I wish I knew how important organisation is when it comes to notes for modules. This knowledge has really helped me in my final year so far.
Where do you want your degree and experience to take you after you graduate?
My wish is that my degree and experience will lead me to a successful career. I am particularly interested in working in a challenging finance or management role and would like to live in London or somewhere in the US. I hope, through the connections I have gained at KBS and the experiences Kent has given me, that I will have an advantage in the future business world.
