Eight Reasons to Study at Canterbury

Students are back where they belong and where better, than our bustling and beautiful Canterbury Campus? Here’s just a few reasons you might choose to study here…

1. Award winning facilities

The home of Kent Business School in Canterbury is the RIBA award-winning state-of-the-art Sibson building which offers spacious teaching facilities, executive seminar and lecture rooms, as well as excellent IT facilities and learning resources.

The award-winning Templeman Library is open 24/7 during term time and home to 1,600 study spaces – from relaxed and silent spaces to group study booths

2. Canterbury = culture

Canterbury is seeping in history. It is home to the world-renowned Canterbury Cathedral which is under a 10-minute bus trip away from the campus and can even be viewed in the distance from just outside the library.

The experiential historical centre The Canterbury Tales takes you on an immersive theatre journey alongside Geoffrey Chaucer and the colourful characters from his famous novels on their pilgrimage from London to Canterbury Cathedral, recreated for visitors in the heart of the ancient city.

3. Pints and picky bits

Kent’s flagship city has over 45 pubs and bars and many more restaurants ready for you to let yourself loose in. The Cuban is the city’s cocktail hotspot serving up delish nibbles including fresh paella and burgers. Anyone fancy a lock-in? The Pound Bar & Kitchen was recently voted Kent’s best bar and is situated in a former city jail and police station, get your hand (cuffs) on one of their incarceration themed cocktails!

4. An actual cinema on campus

Enjoy a film or two at our on campus at the Gulbenkian cinema on the Canterbury campus, which shows all the latest Blockbuster film releases as well as a variety of independent films. They also showcase a range of live events for all ages which you can get directly involved in.

5. The ultimate green city!

The campus is situated just outside the busy historic city centre and is surrounded by woodland and nature walks. Travel less than twenty minutes by road, rail or bus and reach some of Kent’s blue-flag awarded beaches. Fancy a day out in the Big Smoke?  Get a high speed train to London in an hour.

6. Shop ’til you drop

Take a wander down to Canterbury’s Whitefriars to some of the biggest high-street names. If that’s not for you then you can explore more independent, specialist shops and boutiques down the cobbled side and back streets of Canterbury.

7. Enviable eats

On the Canterbury Campus, you can find over 10 different cafes and restaurants to dine in for breakfast, lunch and dinner when the restrictions finally lift. With Instagram worthy steamed buns and burgers as well as vegan options, there really is something to cater to everyone’s taste. There are also two Co-op stores on campus which students can get 10% off each shop when using their Totum card.

8. Living on campus

Canterbury offers fantastic living accommodation on-campus for students, an unmissable part of your student experience. Whether you want to cook for yourself or have meals included, Kent has over 10 options of accommodation to choose from.
