Kent Business School’s Senior Lecturer in Accounting, Dr Michele Bigoni has won the Above and Beyond Award for the fourth consecutive year.
The Above and Beyond Awards were launched by Kent Union to celebrate outstanding members of staff, both academic and non-academic. Students nominate staff who they believe have gone above and beyond in their role. The recipient is then presented their award whilst working or even teaching!
I have now received four consecutive Above and Beyond Awards, it is always amazing to win one because it shows better than anything else that students are appreciating your work. It is a great way to see that you are making a positive impact on your students’ lives here at the University of Kent. I always put a lot of effort in designing my modules and keeping them relevant and up-to-date, as well as in making sure that my students have all the help and support that they need. This sort of recognition gives me even more energy and enthusiasm for my job.

- Michele has been an amazing professor this past semester going above and beyond in his teaching duties. Professor Bigoni has reached out to me multiple times via email and stayed with me after class explaining the module further in detail. What really stands out to me is that Professor Bigoni has related the coursework to real-world situations explaining the value of this information after graduation and preparing me for the real world, which I think in full is the main priority of a business professor.
- Dr Bigoni made the accounting and finance lectures very interesting and involving. This is a module that I personally find very difficult, but with his help I had a huge improvement, understanding more than I was expecting.
- He made a subject that I was unsure about into one of my favourites. He is an excellent teacher who deserves recognition for his dedication to students.
