KBS Student Shortlisted for Young Professional of the Year

Accounting and Management student, Joel Fernandes, has been shortlisted for Young Professional of the Year.

Joel Fernandes is an Accounting and Management student at Kent Business School (KBS), the University of Kent. This year, Joel has been shortlisted for the Project Management Institute, Young Project Professional of the Year Award.

Joel is currently undertaking a Project Management role at Cummins on his placement year, where he is responsible for a range of different tasks, including:

  • Supporting the Europe Projects Forecasting
  • Supporting the Europe Projects Reporting & KPI’s
  • Supporting Project Logistics
  • Supporting Project Cost Management Activities

Joel’s plan for the future is to be “a valuable asset to the company that he works for and demonstrate a range of different skills”. He added that after gaining a few years of experience he has plans to start up a business of his own business in the financial sector.

“I would like to thank Dr Amgad Badewi, he has motivated me to pursue a role in project management and the only reason why I am here today is because of the support from great people that helped me along this journey. My parents, friends, family and the university.”

The winners will be announced at a black-tie award ceremony, taking place on Thursday 14 November 2019 at the Honourable Artillery Company in London.
