As the new academic term begins, find out more about the University of Kent Medway Campus, hear from our Student Success Assistant and get some advice from a Student Ambassador.

Pembroke Campus

The University of Kent at Medway is based on The Universities at Medway site, made up of Pembroke Campus and The Historic Dockyard. The Pembroke Campus is shared with the University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University and was originally built as a Royal Naval Barracks, HMS Pembroke, at the start of the 20th century. The campus houses award-winning buildings and has an exciting social scene with a strong sense of community.

Chatham Historic Dockyard

Chatham Historic Dockyard is a maritime museum on part of the site of the former royal/naval dockyard. As the University of Kent has grown and evolved since its launch, Kent Business School and the School of Music and Fine Art moved across to the Historic Dockyard in 2015. The dockyard boasts three historic warships, a Victorian ropery and a historic lifeboat collection. University of Kent students can enter the attractions for free.

The Sail and Colour Loft

Kent Business School Medway is based in The Sail and Colour Loft on the Historic Dockyard side of the Medway Campus.

Originally built in 1723, the historic building has been fully refurbished and features six seminar rooms, a group learning room, a computer suite, quiet study areas and student social spaces. The majority of your seminars will take place here, but you can also visit your lecturers during office hours, speak to a careers advisor or seek advice and guidance from a member of our Student Support Team.

The Church Lecture Theatre

Adjacent to the Sail and Colour Loft is the Royal Dockyard Church. This is a distinctive Grade II listed building constructed between 1808 and 1811. In partnership with Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, the University has recently transformed the Church into a magnificent 21st-century flexible space. As a traditional lecture theatre, it features technology for lecture recording, interactivity and in-class voting.

GK Unions

Greenwich and Kent Students’ Unions Together is a partnership between the University of Greenwich Students Union and the Kent Union on the Medway campus. As a student member of Greenwich and Kent Student Unions together, you get the best of both worlds, as you’re not only a member of GK Unions but of your ‘home’ student union too.

Student Hub and ‘The Deep End’

The newly refurbished Student Hub is a fantastic place for you to relax with friends, grab a drink and get on with work. The imaginative space is filled with social zones, study areas and a brand new bar. GK Unions have worked hard to create a space that all students can benefit from, this includes having all GK Unions services located within the Student Hub for your convenience. The Student Hub has been created within a building that was once the home of a swimming pool when the campus was used as an army barracks. The development has kept as many of the original features as possible while also creating a light and spacious area for everyone to enjoy. Within the Student Hub is the aptly named The Deep End, which serves freshly-cooked food including speciality dishes, ‘Dive in’ burgers and tasty pizzas. As well as great food, the Deep End is also a great night-time venue. In 2017 the Dockyard Ball was held here.
Kent Business School looks forward to welcoming you to the Medway Campus in the new academic year. Find out more about the University of Kent Medway Campus.
