Welcome to the fifth edition of our KBS Newsletter for staff and students. This quarter, along with sharing our latest news, features, and views from our community, we’ve been taking a look at ideas surrounding Career Change and Change Management.
A New Home for Kent Business School: Watch the Video
In March, Kent Business School at the Canterbury Campus moved into its new home, the Sibson building.
Named after the University of Kent’s third Vice-Chancellor, the late Professor Robin Sibson, the state-of-the-art building with new teaching and learning spaces and modern social and breakout areas encapsulates KBS academic values and identity.
Timetabled lectures and seminars begin with the new student intake in September, but students and staff are already making use of the bright, open spaces. We are excited to share with you this video, captured the week before Sibson opened which showcases the first reactions of students and alumni as they entered the building for the first time.
Dockyard Ball 2017
The Dockyard Ball 2017 was organised in partnership with the School of Music and Fine Art. The celebration took place in the ‘The Deep End’, the new student hub on the Medway Campus and was conceived as an opportunity to mark the end of Spring Term and showcase student talent. Chairman of MoneySuperMarket.com Visits KBS
At the event, organised by Kent Business Society, Bruce Carnegie-Brown presented on the need for ethical management and managing larger firms in difficult times. A Q&A session was then hosted by Professor April McMahon. Read the full article.
Academic Skills Development Week 2017
The Kent Business School Student Success Team worked with first year Medway students to support the development of their academic study skills, important competencies that underpin academic ability. Read the full article.
Dr Michele Bigoni Wins Above and Beyond Award
Kent Business School’s Senior Lecturer in Accounting Dr Michele Bigoni has won a Kent Union Above and Beyond Award. Michele was nominated by MSc Management student Stephen Knight. Read the full article.
KBS Pitch It! – Macknade Fine Foods
KBS undergraduate students were given the opportunity to pitch to Faversham-based Macknade Fine Foods. Student teams worked on a marketing challenge presented by the company and provided practical solutions. Read the full article.
Student Blogger Cai England: My Year in Industry at Inspira UK
Cai England is a third year BA Accounting and Finance with a Year in Industry student at Kent Business School, University of Kent. KBS Summer Schools: Global Business in a Dynamic Environment
This year, Kent Business School will host a programme on Global Business in a Dynamic Environment, on the University of Kent Canterbury Campus.
