About BIBA Medical
BIBA Medical is a small company with around 20 members of staff working across three departments; conferences, publishing and research. BIBA publishes 6 controlled circulation newspapers and is one of the UK’s leading providers of market analysis services for the medical devices industry.
The BIBA conference team runs an annual event, the Charing Cross International Symposium. The event provides medical education within the vascular and endovascular space, with the highest number of attendees being vascular surgeons. The event also encompasses an extensive exhibition space for industry. The event has been running for 35 years attracting over 3,700 people in 2013 from around 80 different countries.
Overview of the Role
Your main role will be to assist the conference team on the planning, organisation and running of the event. You will be personally in charge of many projects large and small linked directly to the event, which will give you an opportunity for real responsibility. You will learn a variety of skills including project management, database management, event management, programme management and many more. This position involves hard work and dedication particularly during the weeks leading up to the Symposium and requires you to work over the weekend of Charing Cross.
Person Specification
Applicant must be able to work within a small team and be able to communicate effectively with other members of staff and departments. Applicants must have good organisational skills, time management and have an attention to detail. You must also be able to work confidently and effectively alone and use your initiative. The majority of work is client based involving a large amount of communication which would suit a confident person.
