Dr Diogo Souza Monteiro, Dr Ben Lowe (Kent Business School) and Professor Iain Fraser (Economics) have won a British Academy research grant for a project investigating how the use of mobile technologies might help consumers make healthier food choices when doing their shopping in supermarkets.
This project will determine whether technologies – such as supermarket self-scanners or smartphone apps – can aid consumers making choices over three key dimensions of food choice: nutrition, taste and convenience.
Findings are likely to interest decision makers in the food industry, namely retailers, and public health.
‘The use of mobile technology to enhance nutritional information provision for healthy diet choices’ runs from April2012 until April 2013 and is supported by a £7,400 British Academy research grant.
