Recently, the Accounting and Finance Undergraduate Programme at Canterbury has been very successful in obtaining three additional accreditations from the professional accountancy bodies. These confer exemptions from professional examinations for Kent graduates who have passed the accredited modules within the Accounting and Finance Undergraduate Programme. Two of the additional exemptions are for ACCA and one is for CIMA. The additional papers are:
- ACCA Paper: Taxation (on the basis of Taxation (CB513))
- ACCA Paper Financial Reporting (on the basis of Financial Accounting 2 (AC506) PLUS Financial Statement Analysis (CB617))
- CIMA Paper Financial Operations (on the basis of Financial Accounting 2 (AC506) PLUS Taxation (CB513))
These extra professional accreditations give Kent Accounting and Finance graduates a distinct advantage over accounting graduates from most other UK universities. This is because most universities do not teach the required subjects (particularly taxation) for these exemptions.
Depending on their choice of optional modules, Kent Accounting and Finance graduates can now obtain more professional exemptions than at most other UK universities. This is an important development given that the majority of accounting students are highly motivated to obtain the maximum range of exemptions. It is a key factor for all accounting and finance applicants to consider when making their choice of university.
