Thirty-five employee engagement professionals from regional organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors gathered at Kent Business School in Medway to meet with David MacLeod and leading members of the UK’s national Employee Engagement Taskforce Practitioners Group, including Stella Power from the Cabinet Office, Simon Hardaker of GKN and Richard Hortop from Serco. The meeting was one of a series of regional events being held around the country as part of the Engaging for Success drive to raise levels of engagement amongst UK businesses. The meeting was hosted by Professor Katie Truss, Head of Kent Business School at Medway and member of the Taskforce ‘Guru Group’ on employee engagement, and Margaret Ayers, HR Director at the University of Kent.
Delegates were updated on the latest work being undertaken by the Taskforce, which was launched in March 2011 by David Cameron in Downing Street, and shared ideas and best practice on how engagement levels could be raised within their own organisations. The Taskforce members hope that this latest event will kick-start a thriving regional group for Kent and the South-East, and the Business School and the wider University will be playing a key role in developing a network around engagement in the region.
