Project on Population Ageing, Implications for Asset Values, and Impact for Pension Plans: An International Study
– with Doug Andrews, Steve Bonnar, Lori Curtis, Miguel Leon-Ledesma, Kathleen Rybczynski, and Pradip Tapadar
I am part of an international project studying the relationship between demographic structure and asset prices to inform research in the field as well as pension plan policies.
The original project received funding and partnership support from Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and Society of Actuaries (SoA), and University of Waterloo.
Further funding and support has been received from the International Centre for Pensions Management and from the National Pension Hub (Global Risk Institute) for an additional project joint with Alex Maynard.
In addition to the research outputs currently published or in preparation for this project, a number of events were organised. I was co-organiser for:
- One Day Workshop on Age Structure and Asset Values: Can Population Aging be Deflationary? June 23, 2014
- Waterloo International Workshop on the Implications of Aging on Asset Values June 22-24, 2016
- ATRC 2017 (Theme: Ageing Populations and Actuarial Implications) and Special Workshop – July 17-18, 2017
