Why do I get a stale request error message?

Stale request error messages can appear when clicking into library resources such as e-books, journal articles, and databases.

This error message can appear when you:

  • press the back button after logging into a resource
  • open multiple links to library resources across different tabs without signing in
  • open a bookmark to a login page rather than to the website you want to access
  • are prevented from accessing the site due to your browser preventing cookies

How do I solve this error?

To solve this error you can close down the window and start your task again.

Alternatively you can :

  1. Click the back button and return to the previous page
  2. Click on the link again to access the resource
  3. If prompted, log in

If the error message still persists:

  • Ensure cookies are allowed in your browser
  • Verify that your anti-virus is not preventing access to the website
  • Try a different browser
