Happy New Year! We’re thrilled to welcome you back and to help you get set for a successful 2025. We’re here to help unleash your creativity, let your imagination run wild and to help you pursue and achieve your dreams.

Here are some of our New Year highlights to welcome you back to the Templeman.

Love to read Winter Warmers books

Wrap up warm and keep cosy with our Love to Read Winter Warmers collection: from spellbinding fiction to memorable autobiographies; from the splendours of nature to personal growth and wellbeing – and you can even brighten every day with an alternative guide to the year in 366 poems.

Browse and borrow books from the display in the Welcome Hall.

On the Stage films

With the Stage Awards 2025 taking place later this month, we’re celebrating all things theatrical..  from plays to theatre productions and musical themed films.

Exit stage left to browse and borrow films from the Film Collection in BG – and you can borrow a DVD player from the Welcome Desk as well.

New year… new furniture

We’ve had a busy winter break getting new furniture into the Templeman Library and sprucing up our study spaces. We hope you’ll like the new study sofas and that you’ll find them comfortable and relaxing.

Language, Literature and Creative Highlights

Explore our Language, Literature and Creative Highlights display in D1. You’ll find a display of titles from the module Grammar for Everyone, which is indeed useful for all.

Alongside these are books and titles focusing on Study & Creative Writing as well as a celebration Kent Authors of Fiction drawn from our staff and alumni.

Student shapers… next steps….

Following on from last term’s launch event, it’s all systems go as we move forward with our co-curricular initiative that encourages and empowers you to work with us to drive improvements that enhance campus spaces (both study and recreational), and Library and IT services.

We’ll be reaching out to students who have already signed up, but if you want to find out more check out our Student Shapers web pages.

Coco will be back…

Coco, the Templeman Library therapy dog with studentWe’re really happy to announce that Coco, the charming therapy dog, will be visiting us weekly during the Spring Term. We’re finalising this term’s dates and we’ll be sure to let you know when they’re confirmed.

This weekly initiative is one of our favourite ways to bring happiness, relaxation and a sense of wellbeing to students and staff at Kent, so make it your new year’s resolution to take a break from your hectic schedules and visit the Templeman Library to say hello to Coco. He is a certified Pets as Therapy dog, very friendly, calm and loves being fussed over!
