Application Process
Eligibility
Applicants should be EASP members or have recently applied for membership (i.e. by the time you have submitted an application for the summer school, you have also submitted an application to EASP as a student member). The EASP membership application procedure and fees are outlined here.
The summer school is open to PhD students from around Europe and beyond, especially those studying Social Psychology or related disciplines. Please note that this means that applicants need to be registered PhD students during the summer school, meaning that current Masters students or recently completed PhD students will unfortunately not be eligible.
Application Requirements
If you would like to apply to take part in the Summer School, you will need to submit a completed application form that includes:
• A motivation letter explaining why you would like to take part in the Summer School.
• A description of your PhD research programme. This should include information about timing (starting date and expected completion date), a description of your research topic, the research questions to be addressed, and a description of any studies already planned with objectives, hypotheses and methods to be used.
• Details on your education, training, and skills
• An indication of your preferred workshop (please provide a first and second choice).
Download the Application Form here. (If you are having trouble with this link, you can also try to download via this Google Drive link)
You will also need a reference letter from your PhD supervisor (they do not need to be an EASP member). The reference form can be downloaded here.
Please send these documents to easp2025@kent.ac.uk with the subject line formatted as “First Name, Last Name 2025” (e.g., Jane Doe 2025).
Fees
The price for attending the summer school will be £470. This includes tuition, accommodation, and meals. 10 students will be eligible for a 50% discount on their fees (i.e. they will pay £235). You will be able to indicate in your application form whether you want to be considered for the discount.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by 31st December 2024. Late applications may not be considered.
Selection Criteria
Diversity criteria will be applied to encourage applications from students in regions currently underrepresented in mainstream social psychology and to include those researching a wide range of topics. Participants will be chosen based on their motivation letter and the quality of their PhD research program, focusing on factors such as rationale, coherence, and academic excellence.
