Imogen Amos claims sporting world record

Former Kent Sport Scholar, Imogen Amos (Biomedical Science, 2023), became a HYROX world-record holder earlier this year in the Women’s U24 category at the European Championships held in Vienna, Austria.

Hyrox is a growing global fitness competition designed to test the endurance, strength, and overall fitness of participants through a unique combination of running and functional workout stations. Events are now held in cities all over the world, with participants using the sport to measure their overall fitness progress and challenge themselves in a competitive yet inclusive environment.

Imogen successfully completed the course in 1:00:10 – an achievement that is even more impressive considering  that she has only been competing in Hyrox Events for 10 months. Her ongoing success means that she has now qualified to compete at the World Championships in Chicago this summer.

Whilst studying at Kent, Imogen was a recipient of our Sport Scholarship Scheme, which enabled her to continue her long distance running engagements alongside her studies.

She said “receiving the scholarship gave me the conviction to persevere in my athletic aspirations which has helped me so much to get where I am now. I’ve always worked hard in whatever I do but have sometimes lacked confidence in my ability. However, winning the U24 European Hyrox  championship has reaffirmed to me if I put the effort in I can reap the rewards. It has been a dream!”
